Simple Activities for Summer Speech & Language Progress

July 16, 2018

July's edition of the Pediatric Speech Therapy Newsletter takes a detailed look at Simple Activities for Summer Speech & Language Progress.

Children make exceptional gains in speech and language skills throughout the school year, but a phenomenon occurs during the summer referred to as "summer learning loss". Summer can serve as a time for children to expand on what they have learned and prevent learning disruptions in phonological awareness skills using several different activities.

Our second story this month covers How Occupational Therapy Benefits Children with Autism. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder need assistance in social interaction, fine and gross motor skills, and motor coordination. Occupational therapy is a unique discipline that equips children and families with the skills and resources necessary to address these challenges.

Here's the full rundown for our July 2018 issue:

  • Strides in the Sunshine: Simple Activities for Summer Speech & Language Progress

  • How Occupational Therapy Benefits Children with Autism

  • Ask a Therapist: What is Aphasia?

  • App of the Month: Dr. Seuss Treasury

  • Speech Therapy Spotlight: Deborah Esquivel, MA, CCC-SLP
